Celebrating Love, Pleasure and Community
Pride Month is a time to celebrate the LGBTQ community and diversity, the people who shaped it, and the freedom to love and live openly. At Lushense, we believe pleasure is for everybody, and that the brands behind your favourite intimate wellness products deserve a place in that celebration. This month, we want to shine a light on the founders who are part of the community, building sex toys, lubricants and intimate care from a place of real understanding.
Why We Celebrate Pride Month
Pride Month takes place every June, and it carries a powerful history. It honours the Stonewall uprising of June 1969 in New York City. When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar, the community decided enough was enough and fought back over several nights. Activists such as Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera helped lead that resistance.
One year later, in June 1970, the very first Pride marches took place to mark the anniversary. Since then, June has become a time to celebrate LGBTQ lives, to remember those who fought for equal rights, and to keep pushing for a kinder, fairer world. Pride is part party, part protest, and always a reminder of how far the community has come.
Why Supporting LGBTQ Owned Brands Matters
When you buy from an LGBTQ owned brand, your money goes straight back into the community. These founders did not just spot a gap in the market, many of them lived it. They created products because nothing on the shelf spoke to their bodies, their relationships or their needs, so they built something better themselves.
Supporting these brands is far more meaningful than a rainbow logo that appears for one month and quietly disappears in July. That is why we have focused on brands that publicly state they are LGBTQ owned. When a founder stands up and says this is who we are, you can shop with confidence, knowing your support reaches the real people and communities behind the products.
This Pride Month, we invite you to put your support where it truly counts.
